Gabelli Sophomore Consulting Challenge (CCIP): 2 - Investor Relations Websites, Sustainability Reporting

This guide has been created for students enrolled in the Gabelli Sophomore Consulting Challenge course. It is designed to supplement the submission assignment handouts and course blackboard content.

Company Websites

Consumer goods companies will usually have both a consumer website and an investor relations website. For information about the company's mission, purpose, and goals, go to the investor relations option.  Look for:

  • the company mission statement (they may call it something else)
  • the history of the company
  • the published annual report of the company
  • official press releases
  • announcements about significant changes in leadership and structure
  • product releases and new markets
  • ESG, SASB or other sustainability, environmental impact, or social responsibility reports
  • Analyst coverage (firm and/or people)

Keep in mind that websites are advertising tools and will highlight the most positive information about the company. Investor relations websites often look very different from the company's consumer website.

Companies and Competitors 2023 - 2024

Don't forget to find the investor relations pages (a link usually located on the bottom or top toolbars of the commercial company website).

Activity : Compare Your Company Mission and Website

Questions To Answer With Your Team.  Pick a competitor or two and compare your company:

  • How does your company's mission statement differ from that of its competitors'? (If they don't have a mission statement, what do they have that is similar?)
  • Does your company's website reflect the mission of the company? How?
  • Does your company's website differ from that of its competitors'? In what way?
  • What do the differences and similarities in missions and websites tell you about the companies, industry, and markets?
  • Compare the SASB, GRI, or other sustainability reports of your company and competitor.

You do not need to submit this. This is an exercise to help you start talking with your team about your company and how it differs from its competitors.
