Accessing an E-book

  • Find the e-book in the Library Catalog.
     
  • Locate the e-book in your results; the notation will say [electronic resource] within or at the end of the title.
     
  • Click on the small, blue letters URL or the actual url to open the e-book in the Item Information section of the record.
     
  • Log off as soon as you are finished; many e-books accommodate only one user at a time.

Library of Congress Classification System

Academic libraries use the Library of Congress Classification System to designate a book's location on the shelf.

Some books about palliative and end-of-life care have a call number (on the spine of the book) that ranges from R726.5 - R726.8 (Medicine and disease in relation to Psychology. Terminal care. Dying.)

Some other common categories include the following:

R -  Medicine

BF - Psychology

BJ - Ethics

HQ - The Family, Marriage, Women

HV - Social Pathology; Social and Public Welfare.
