Tips for Viewing Streaming Videos In Class

See our Video & Multimedia page for best practices from our Electronic Resources department for managing in-class viewing of streaming videos.

Formatting Links for Sharing

Most streaming video platforms offer options to generate persistent links to share access to content with students via email or syllabi.

Copying & pasting a URL from your browser's address bar will not work at a later date for other users.

Look at the user interface to find options to generate permalinks. Here is an example from AVON:

  • On the top menu, click on Share.
  • Options will then appear to Copy Permalink (creates a web link) or Copy Embed Code (creates code to embed a video on a digital platform).

Screnshot from AVON showing the Share button and link options.

DVDs and VHS

Looking for content available in DVD or VHS format? Try these steps:

  • Search the Library Catalog to see what is available in these formats across Fordham Libraries.
  • Search WorldCat FirstSearch to see if a film, TV, or collection is available in DVD or VHS format.
