Poetry: Finding Books

The Library Catalog

The most efficient way to find books and e-books is through the Library Catalog.

This article from Fordham Library News explains how to get started using the Library Catalog.

Looking for ebooks only? Select the "electronic only" option in the catalog.

Library catalog search options with Electronic Only selected.

Browsing with Call Numbers

The library uses Library of Congress call numbers. Books on similar topics usually have similar call numbers, and arranged on the shelves next to related books.

Call numbers for literature, including poetry, usually start with the letter P. English poetry usually starts with PR, and American poetry usually starts with PS.

See the Library of Congress Classification Outline for subcategories. Click on "P -- Language and Literature" to get started.
