These details (production information, biographical information, dates, locations, specific terms describing performance, etc) will provide the keywords or limiters to use when searching in catalogs & databases.

Finding Books

  • Use the video tutorials on the Finding Books page for help searching the catalog for books and learning how to place holds to have books delivered to your desired campus.
  • Be mindful of variations in spelling i.e. theater vs. theatre or Noh, No, or Nō (form of Japanese theatre).
  • Try searching the author fields in the Library Catalog to learn how locate plays or other writings by a specific playwright.
  • For books about a playwright or an actor, try searching that person's name in the subject field.
