Welcome to the New Teacher Survival Guide, a collaborative effort between the Fordham University Graduate School of Education and the Fordham University Libraries.

Within the pages of this database, graduate students entrolled in the Curriculum and Teaching Programs at the Fordham University Graduate School of Education will find numerous resources to assist in the process of unit and lesson planning construction and to prepare for initial teacher certification.

There also links to all the resources available to members of the Fordham community through the Fordham University library catalog and databases. Access to these resources will grant graduate students and current teachers the oppportunity to further their professional development, through access to the latest theories in education and to numerous resources which they can use within their classrooms.

As previously stated, the purpose of this guide is to offer pre-service teachers and current teachers resources that will allow them to build a rich library of resources for their curricular and instructional needs. There are sample lesson plans, unit plans, assessments, and rubrics that will help you jumpstart your planning.

What do Teachers Make?

As you begin your first year of teaching, there will be ups and downs. When times get tough, seek support in your friends and colleagues. The below video is also a reminder of why teaching is an amazing profession and completely worthwhile.
