JSTOR Research Tool Guide: JSTOR AI Research Tool

Information for using the new JSTOR AI Research Tool (Beta)

ABOUT JSTOR AI RESEARCH TOOL (BETA)

The library invites you to explore JSTOR's new interactive research tool in beta. Developed in collaboration with the JSTOR community, this tool employs AI and other technologies to empower students, faculty, researchers, and librarians to deepen and expand their research and unearth new avenues for discovery with JSTOR’s trusted corpus.

The beta runs through spring 2025. Using the tool is optional.

Once users have selected a subscribed journal article, Open Access book chapter, or research report, they can use the tool to assess content relevance through summaries, ask questions about the item using conversational language, and readily find related or similar works.

Access: To explore the tool yourself:

  1. Access JSTOR from the Library Databases J list.

  2. Log in to your personal JSTOR account (upper right corner) and make sure you also have access to your institution.

  3. Run a search and open any subscribed journal article, OA book chapter, or research report to start using the tool. Try it out with this example.

  4. Share feedback using the thumbs-up or thumbs-down rating. For thumbs-down ratings, you may provide additional details to help improve the tool.
