Economics: Home

This guide provides an overview of research methods and the Fordham University Library's collection of economics resources.

What is Economics?

Economics is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. It is divided into two major parts - Microeconomics and MacroeconomicsMicroeconomics is the branch of economics that deals with how individuals, including people and companies, respond to economic conditions. Macroeconomics looks at the economy as a whole. That includes trying to understand what drives the business cycle from boom to bust, or from growth to recession, and what controls overarching economic indicators such as gross domestic product, unemployment and inflation.
