Roosevelt Family and Fordham: Sarah Delano Roosevelt visits Fordham 1939

Mrs. Roosevelt, the president's mother, visits Fordham October 1, 1939

It was a rainy Sunday in October when the bronze tablet presented by the Fordham Alumni Sodality was unveiled by Mrs. Roosevelt. The inscription on the tablet sets forth that the church was erected in 1845 by the third president of the college, Rev. James Roosevelt Bayley, later Bishop of Newark and Archbishop of Baltimore. He was the nephew of St. Elizabeth Seton and cousin to Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
