Henry Hudson

Henry Hudson's explorations and discovery of the Hudson River in 1609 led the way to the settlement of New York by the Dutch. 2009 is the 400th anniversary of this event.

2009 Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial Collection

There are over 200 items/ephemera from the 2009 Quadricentennial Celebration located in Special Collections at the Walsh Library.  Some representations of the Collection are listed below:

Robert Fulton

In 1807 Robert Fulton's steamship the Clermont (Fulton's Folly) inaugurated steamship service between NYC and Albany. 2009 is the 200th anniversary of this successful steamship navigation.

Samuel de Champlain

French explorer & cartographer Samuel de Champlain mapped a large section of the northeast in North America in 1609. Lake Champlain is named for him. 2009 is the 400th anniversary of this discovery.
