While the world of scholarly publishing may seem difficult to navigate and the increased prevalence of open access journals may have you asking some questions, this Guide offers helpful sources and materials to assist the university community by providing clear information about the current academic publishing environment.

What is scholarly publication?

The world of scholarly publications is changing with the advent of new technology.  This Research Guide primarily considers publication as the act of making some work publicly readable or otherwise accessible.  There are many options for how to do this, one way is described in the infographic below:
