English and American Literature: Home

This guide introduces you to some of the most important print and electronic tools for researching in English and American literature.

Welcome to The English and American Literature Guide

The study of literature allows us to leave our own limited perspectives on life and experience human life from the vantage of imaginative writers of genius. This is the power of literature and of all art - to bridge the gap between people and allow us to recognize our common humanity.

The goal of this guide is to serve as a starting point in your research and to direct you to some of the best databases, reference tools and online and print resources for English and American Literature.  I have tried to provide you with pointers to as many areas of scholarly interest as possible, from books and academic articles to reference resources and web sites  to primary and secondary resources that will help keep you abreast of current developments in literature.

I update this guide regularly and welcome any suggestions you may have for resources you have found especially useful in researching literature.

Please contact me any time to discuss your research needs.
